when exposed to a neutral solution the paper will turn purple. The reason for
these color changes has to do with the chemical indicator that the testing
strips are coated in. While there are several possible indicators that can be
used, one of the most common is Flavin, which is a chemical found in red
cabbage. The Flavin reacts differently to various solutions, which is the cause
of the color changes.
Water and wastewater testing have applications across many
different fields. While they may most commonly be associated with analyzing the
quality of drinking water for public consumption, they also play an important
role in the environmental sciences. Water quality is not a one-dimensional
concept, and it’s for this reason that multiple tests have been developed that
