Here is quick look at four such testing supplies–pH paper, sampling utensils, insulation materials, and testing accessories.

pH Paper

pH testing involves determining the acidity or basicity of a liquid, and it plays a critical role in a number of different scientific disciplines–including environmental science, chemical engineering, food science, medicine, and agricultural science. One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to determine pH levels is by using paper indicator strips. These strips turn different colors depending on what type of substance they are exposed to. When exposed to an acid they will turn some shade of red (depending on how strong the solution is), when exposed to a basic substance they will turn a particular shade of green, and when exposed to a neutral solution the paper will turn purple. The reason for these color changes has to do with the chemical indicator that the testing strips are coated in. While there are several possible indicators that can be used, one of the most common is Flavin, which is a chemical found in red cabbage. The Flavin reacts differently to various solutions, which is the cause of the color changes.
